The paintings inspired by Color Field masterworks,
almost present themselves as backdrops for the sculpture.

The airbrush style paintings are vibrant and have a monochromatic palate.
They reveal a microscopic, fantasy world of an amebic milieu.

Scharf was a pioneer among artists who integrated street culture
into the contemporary art mainstream, incorporating both pop and comic book imagery in his sculpture, paintings and installation.

An Installation at AC Institute
547 West 27th street, Rm 210, NYC.

"My practice is informed by issues of identity and culture and by engagement
with materials. My work is relective of my feminist artistic identity and is suffused with a quality of romance and material transendence in which its
human traces convey my concern with the connection between image, material
and space."  Claudia Sbrissa
